Federal judge, U.S. attorney join WLAM Foundation for 15th Anniversary Awards Celebration

The Women Lawyers Association of Michigan (WLAM) Foundation is pleased to announce that U.S. Attorney Barbara McQuade will make remarks on leadership and U.S. District Court Judge Marianne Battani will receive the Foundation's Legacy Award during the Annual Awards Reception taking place on Wednesday, March 30.

The WLAM Foundation's Awards Reception is also the occasion to introduce the 2011 Outstanding Women Law Students chosen to receive a total of $25,000 in scholarships to support their education. The awardees were selected on the basis of demonstrated leadership on women's issues through a competitive process.

This year marks the WLAM Foundation's 15th year of making awards to deserving women law students. In that time, 185 awardees have received a total of $411,000 in financial support of their law school educations. The Foundation's many corporate, law firm and individual donors have given generously to support the WLAMF's educational mission, and many will also attend the March 30th event.

The Awards Reception takes place at the A. Alfred Taubman Center for Design Education in Detroit, from 5:30 to 7:30, at a suggested donation of $25 per attendee. The Taubman Center is located at 460 Baltimore, 11th Floor, in Detroit and parking is available in an adjacent structure and lot. The WLAM Foundation requests registration by Wednesday, March 23. Contact Barb at (248) 740-7003 to charge by phone, or charge online at www.wlamfoundation.org.

The WLAM Foundation's new website also offers opportunities to support the scholarship fund as a member of the Dean'as List, supporters at levels above $125. Virtually all donations go directly to scholarships, and they are tax-deductible to the extent allowed by law.
