Fourth annual Culinary Challenge hosted by WLAM Foundation

It's time again for the members of the judiciary to trade their robes for aprons and step up to the culinary challenge. The Women Lawyers Association of Michigan (WLAM) Foundation will host its 4th Annual Culinary Challenge on Tuesday, June 14, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the home of Michigan Court of Appeals Judge Kirsten Frank Kelly. All profits from this charity event will be donated to WLAM Foundation Scholarship Fund, Alternatives for Girls, and Crossroads for Youth.

At the last three events, judges, magistrates and referees battled it out for the title of "Best Judicial Chef" in two categories of competition: appetizers and desserts. Last year's awards went to Wayne County 17th District Court Judge Karen Khalil for her spinach pie and Oakland County Circuit Court Judge Colleen O'Brien for her delicious brownies. More than 30 members of the judiciary attended the event. Judicial chefs can again choose to make an appetizer or dessert.

In addition, a team of lawyers (Grilled by the Hour) will compete against a team of judges (Grilled from the Bench) in a live cook-off at 6 p.m. Michigan Supreme Court Justice Diane Hathaway, Macomb County Circuit Court Judge Kathy Viviano, and Oakland County Circuit Court Judge Cheryl Matthews will be cooking for Grilled from the Bench this year. Jennifer Grieco, Amy Yu, and Margaret Tobin are cooking for Grilled by the Hour.
