Monday Profile: Peter Flintoft
Peter Flintoft is a Chelsea native who has served as lead counsel for the city of Chelsea, and continuously and at various times for the surrounding townships of Sylvan, Lyndon, Dexter, Sharon, Stockbridge, Lima, and Freedom, and for their various boards and authorities.
After receiving his J.D. from the University of Michigan Law School in 1968, Flintoft began working at Keusch and Flintoft. He has served as president of the Washtenaw County Bar Association, member of the Michigan State Attorney Grievance Commission's hearing panels, a leader in the restoration of the former 1905 Chelsea State Bank building into the present 14th District Court in Chelsea, and president of the Board of the Michigan Conference of the United Church of Christ.

What is your idea of perfect happiness?
A good golf swing
What is your greatest fear?
Missing a court date
Which living person do you most admire?
I don't know whom I admire the most, but lately I certainly enjoy the comments of Warren Buffet.
What is the trait you hate most in yourself?
Rushing a task without thinking it all out.
What is the trait you hate most in others?
Unnecessary condescension and rudeness.
Necessary extravagance? A good beer.
What is your most treasured possession?
My wife and family and my books.
What do you consider the most overrated virtue? Moderation.
Which living person do you most despise?
There are too many to even think about.
If you could change one thing about yourself, what would it be?
My bad knee.
What advice would you give law school students?
Relax when you first hit a courtroom.
What would be your ideal job? Gentleman farmer.
What one thing you wish people knew about your work?
How hard it is to fit words to a situation.
What is something most people don't know about you?
I like to sing.
Who is your favorite character of fiction?
Rumpole of the Bailey.
Favorite movies:
Lawrence of Arabia and Master and Commander.
Favorite drink: Good beer.
Favorite place to spend money: In a book store.
