Newly elected WCBA president stresses need to file electronically

By Sheila Pursglove Legal News Ypsilanti attorney Greg Dodd was sworn in as WCBA President for the 2015-16 year at the WCBA Awards Dinner and Elections held on April 16 at Weber's Inn. His term starts July 1, 2015. Dodd, who will take over Presidential duties from Matt Jane, is a solo practice attorney primarily handling bankruptcy and divorce. The owner of The Dodd Law Firm in the historic Old Town Hall building in Ypsilanti since 1991, Dodd is an Ypsilanti native and graduate of Ypsilanti High School. He earned his bachelor's degree in history and public law and government from Eastern Michigan University, and his law degree from Wayne State University Law School, where he earned the title "Victor of Neef" when he won the Arthur Neef Memorial Moot Court Competition. Dodd served two terms on the Ypsilanti City Council, and was the first Chairperson of the Depot Town Downtown Development Authority. At the April 16 WCBA dinner, Dodd stressed the need to move to electronic filing. He told the audience "some people are embarrassed by Michigan's roads. I'm embarrassed by Michigan's courts, which are still using paper 10 years after the Federal courts went electronic. "I call every piece of paper we file a pothole on the road to justice for our clients." Dodd said that he was proud to become President of the WCBA, which includes the best lawyers in Michigan: "I say that Washtenaw County is the best County to practice in because our lawyers are the smartest, hardest working, most professional, and most courteous in the entire State of Michigan." Dodd, who joined the WCBA in 1990, has served as Vice President, Treasurer, Secretary, Director at Large, and Co-Chair of the Bankruptcy Law Section. He has also been co-chair of the Bar Revue Entertainment Committee for the past decade. Published: Thu, Apr 23, 2015
