The Women Lawyers Association of Michigan Washtenaw Region elected a new president at its annual luncheon meeting held May 19 at the Cottage Inn in downtown Ann Arbor.

Anna Frushour, a principal at Reiser & Frushour PLLC, succeeded outgoing president Jennifer Lawrence. Judge Darlene O'Brien swore in Frushour and other board members: Lori Burke, communications chair; Melissa Epstein, regional representative; Jennifer Harvey, membership chair; Jennifer Lawrence, past president; Kymberlie London, vice president; Patricia Reiser, secretary; and Theresa Rose, treasurer.

Frushour told attendees that public service would be the theme of her one-year presidency of the association.

"I know it's always hard to find additional time to commit," she said. "I have served as a volunteer for several organizations in the community and one of them links up volunteers for organizations that have a gap in their volunteer needs. I would like to start a service component during my year as WLAM Washtenaw Region president."

Frushour noted she became a member of WLAM in 2005.

"I didn't know many members when I joined and I wanted to meet more female attorneys. My first WLAM event was the annual softball game. I brought my husband for backup," she said with a smile.

"Five attorneys welcomed me and introduced themselves. It was an incredible experience as a new attorney. And every event after that got better and better. It inspired me to get more and more involved with WLAM. In the upcoming year, I hope to follow in the footsteps of those women who were so welcoming."

Frushour also thanked Jen Lawrence for her leadership over the past year. "She established a tradition of highlighting different community organizations every month and I hope to build on that," she said.
