Kidney Foundation offering gas card for car donations

The National Kidney Foundation of Michigan (NKFM) is giving back to Michigan residents who donate their used vehicles to the organization's Kidney Cars program.

From August 1 through October 1, the organization is offering a $10 Speedway gas card to anyone who donates their car, just as long as they mention the promotion when donating.

Kidney Cars is free and easy. All Michigan residents have to do to donate their used, unwanted vehicle is call 800-488-CARS.

The NKFM will pick up car donations from any curbside, driveway or parking lot. It's free to donate and more than 80 percent of Americans who gave their cars, vans, trucks or boats to the National Kidney Foundation last year itemized their tax returns and were able to reap a tax deduction for their charitable contribution.

Now residents will receive a $10 gas card in addition to a possible tax deduction. What better way to recycle your used vehicle?

The money raised from all charitable contributions to Kidney Cars goes toward programs in patient services and prevention education.
