Local bar members who sponsored a Toys for Tots collection at the holiday concert held at the Corner Brewery in Ypsilanti before Christmas, have been honored by the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve for their efforts.

Lt. Gen. John F. Kelly, Commander, U.S. Marine Corps Forces Reserve/Marine Forces North, awarded 13 members of the band with the Reserve's Commander's Award for coordinating the collection of toys.

Marine Corps Reserve officer Tony Gillum, who coordinates the Washtenaw County Toys for Tots campaign, said in an email to John Reiser that the Commander's Award "is the highest of all the awards we give to supporters. I hope that you display them so others can see what an outstanding job you and your band have done. God Bless/looking forward to this year's toy season."

Reiser noted that many others were involved in the toy collection in addition to the performing band members adding that the band considers the award a communal honor for the joint effort.

Band members receiving certificates included, Bob Carbeck, Stefani Carter, Kim Easter, Jon Emmons, Joy Gaines, Mike Gatti, Charlie Groh, Bob Killewald, Robyn McCoy, Fawn Montgomery, John Reiser, Laura Sagolla, Robin Stephens, Sean Slay and Tom Styles.
