Kersey named co-chair of Bodman practice group

Brian E. Kersey of Bodman’s Grand Rapids office has been appointed co-chair of the Aviation Law and Finance Practice Group.

Kersey joins current practice group co-chair Bonnie E. Sherr of the Detroit office. He succeeds Carla S. Machnik of the Detroit office, who remains an active member of the group.

Kersey concentrates his practice in aviation law and commercial finance matters. His aviation law work encompasses purchase and sale transactions, regulatory compliance, risk management, tax planning, Part 91 and Part 135 operations, and management and leasing arrangements for both aircraft and hangar space.

He has extensive experience in international aviation purchases and sales. His aviation clients range from individuals buying or selling single engine aircraft to family offices and corporate flight departments buying or selling large cabin jet aircraft, with the aircraft being based throughout the United States.  Kersey is a former chair and the current treasurer of the State Bar of Michigan Aviation Law Section Council. based throughout the United States.  Kersey is a former chair and the current treasurer of the State Bar of Michigan Aviation Law Section Council.

 

Blum named as resident director at Miller Canfield
 

Andrew Blum has been named resident director of Miller Canfield’s Grand Rapids office, succeeding Trent Taylor who served since 2011.

Blum is a principal attorney in the Litigation and Dispute Resolution group.

He was the winner of the Samaritas Ambassador Award in 2020, and was the Grand Rapids Notre Dame Club’s 2017 Person of the Year.

He is a longtime member and former president of the Notre Dame Club Board of Directors.

Blum serves on the Samaritas Board of Directors and is active in the Basilica of St. Adalbert Knights of Columbus where he serves as an officer.
