The Jackson Chamber of Commerce Economic Luncheon, held March 6 at Forty Nine South in Jackson, featured the 2023 Nike and Athena Award recipients.

Odeh and her husband Mustafa “Steve” Odeh met in Palestine and immigrated to the U.S. in 1965, settling in Detroit, where they opened a small restaurant. Odeh attended Oakland Community College and Wayne State University; and Steve attained a graduate degree from the University of Michigan and taught at Schoolcraft, Wayne State University, and Wayne County Community College.

Odeh and her husband moved to Stockbridge and raised eight children, two of them graduates of Lumen Christi in Jackson, and six from Stockbridge High School.

In 1980, the couple purchased Lum’s Restaurant in Jackson, renaming it Steve’s Ranch. After Steve died suddenly in August 2004, Fay took over running Steve’s Ranch. She also volunteers at local schools and events.
