The Bankruptcy Committee of the Federal Bar Association, Eastern District of Michigan Chapter, and the State Bar of Michigan’s Business Law Section co-hosted a Debtor/Creditors’ Rights Committee Luncheon on Wednesday, March 21, at the Atheneum-International Banquet Center in Detroit.

U.S. Bankruptcy Court Judge Steven Rhodes, Eastern District of Michigan, was the guest speaker for the event and discussed “The Ponzi Book: A Legal Resource for Unraveling Ponzi Schemes” which he co-authored with Kathy Bazoian Phelps.

The book addresses all of the claims, defenses, and other legal issues that attorneys, trustees, and receivers will face when they get a Ponzi scheme case and are charged with collecting all the assets and distributing them, Rhodes noted.

Also during the lunch, Charles Bullock accepted an award on behalf of Stevenson & Bullock PLC for its contribution to the the Bankruptcy Committee’s Access to Bankruptcy Court (ABC) first annual fundraiser which was conducted in September of 2011.

The purpose of the ABC program is to provide counsel for pro se debtors.

Judy Calton  of Honigman, Miller, Schwartz & Cohn LLP thanked Bullock and happily presented the recognition to him.
