Miller Canfield and ArtServe Michigan hosted a complimentary reception and information session to launch a new statewide initiative, Lawyers for the Creative Economy (LCE), on Wednesday, Dec. 5, at the offices of Miller Canfield in Detroit.

Among those lending their support were (above, left to right) Jennifer Goulet, president of ArtServe Michigan; Cézanne Charles, director of Creative Industries at ArtServe; Matt Bower of Safford Baker; Marcia Goffney, LCE project consultant; Richard Herman of Richard A. Herman PC; and John Willem of Miller Canfield, State Bar Arts, Communications, Entertainment, and Sports (ACES) Law Section member and ArtServe board member.

“Lawyers for the Creative Economy is basically volunteer lawyers for the arts program where we’re gathering together as many lawyers as possible who are already supporters of the arts, or want to be, who will provide pro-bono or low-fee services to artists and other creative folks,” Willem said.

For additional information about the initiative, contact Marcia Goffney, LCE Project consultant, at lce@artservemichigan.org.
