Dow projects get assistance with state tax credits

LANSING (AP) -- Projects involving Midland-based Dow Chemical Co. could be helped with state tax incentives.

The Michigan Economic Growth Authority recently approved $61 million in state tax credits over 15 years for Dow projects including a solar shingle factory planned for Midland. The company says the factory could create more than 1,200 jobs by 2014.

A joint venture called Dow Kokam received a $42 million state tax credit for a planned Midland facility to develop advanced battery technology.

Several other companies received tax credits Thursday including Advanced Integrated Tooling Solutions for an aircraft equipment project in Macomb County's Chesterfield Township, ALTe LLC for an automotive project in Auburn Hills and Four Winns LLC for a boat manufacturing project in Cadillac.
