Willis re-elected to AWAF’s Executive Leadership Team

Rose Willis, an associate with the law firm of Miller Canfield, will serve a second, two-year term as vice president and general counsel of the Executive Leadership Team and Board of Directors for the Automotive Women’s Alliance Foundation (AWAF), effective January 1, 2010. At Miller Canfield, Willis practices health and general corporate law, assisting health industry clients and as well as businesses with their corporate, commercial transactions, and mergers and acquisitions needs.

Willis received her J.D. from Michigan State University College of Law and her B.B.A. from Saginaw Valley State University. She resides in Royal Oak, Mich.

Automotive Women’s Alliance Foundation is a non-profit professional organization dedicated to promoting the personal and professional development for the advancement of women in the global automotive industry.


NALS presents CLE After Hours on how to start a business

NALS of Detroit presents its CLE After Hours with guest speaker attorney Linda Paullin-Hebden who will speak on “Pink Slip Today. . . Entrepreneur Tomorrow — A Guide to Starting Your Own Business” on Monday, March 8, with dinner at 6 p.m. followed by the presentation at 6:30 p.m. at the offices of Warner, Norcross, & Judd LLP in Southfield.

The cost to attend is $13 for NALS members; $15 for non-NALS members; and $8 for videoconference participants.

Advance reservations are required and must be received by 5 p.m. on Friday, March 4.

State Bar Domestic Violence Committee to host Sara Buel

Sarah Buel, a nationally recognized speaker and advocate for victims of domestic violence, will lead a three-hour event titled “Witness Tampering in Civil and Criminal Intimate Partner Violence Cases” sponsored by the State Bar of Michigan’s Domestic Violence Committee. The event will take place Monday, March 15, in Ann Arbor, and it will be broadcast live in Lansing, Grand Rapids and Auburn Hills. Buel will be speaking from 1:30 to 4:30 p.m. on Monday, March 15, in Room 114 at Cooley Law School, 3475 Plymouth Road in Ann Arbor. The training will be simulcast live to three other Cooley Law School locations: Room 309, Cooley Center, 300 S. Capitol Ave., Lansing; Room 305, 111 Commerce Ave. SW, Grand Rapids, and Room 100, 2630 Featherstone Rd., Auburn Hills. The training is free. Registration is encouraged, however drop-ins are welcome.
