2010 State Bar of Michigan election information available
It is time to vote in the 2010 State Bar of Michigan elections. This year, elections are being held for positions on the Board of Commissioners, Representative Assembly, Young Lawyers Executive Council, and the Judicial Tenure Commission.

All active members are eligible to vote in the Judicial Tenure Commission election. Eligibility to vote in the other contested elections is dependent upon address of record. Ballots will reflect the elections for which you are eligible to vote.

The primary means of voting in this year’s election is electronic. This process will allow all active members to vote securely online at the State Bar of Michigan website.

SBM members who currently have e-mail addresses on file will receive an e-mail with internet voting instructions. SBM members who do not have an e-mail address on file will receive a paper ballot in the mail.

Paper ballots must be postmarked by June 15, 2010. Electronic voting ends at 12 midnight EST on June 15, 2010. Results of the elections will be posted on the State Bar of Michigan website in July.

ADTC to host annual golf outing in Redford
The Association of Defense Trial Counsel (ADTC) will host its Annual Golf Outing on Monday, June 7, beginning at 11:30 a.m. at Western Golf & Country Club in Redford. From 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. there will be a box lunch and registration, followed by a team scramble at 1 p.m. and concluding with a prime rib dinner at 6 p.m. The cost of the complete golf outing package is $125 and the cost for dinner only is $50. Checks should be made payable to “ADTC” and forwarded to Diane Hirshey, 4315 Kiefer, Warren, 48091-5003 as soon as possible to confirm reservations. FBA dinner honoring federal judicial officers
The Federal Bar Association Eastern District Michigan Chapter will hold its 31st annual dinner honoring the judicial officers of the Eastern District June 24 at The Westin Book Cadillac in Detroit. A cocktail reception will begin at 5:30 p.m. Dinner will be at 6:30 p.m. Entertainment will be provided by A (Habeas) Chorus Line. Tickets are $80 per person or $800 for a table of ten. 2010 Presidents’ Reception to honor Carter, Hartsfield

The Wolverine Bar Association, the Wolverine Bar Foundation, and the Association of Black Judges of Michigan will host their 2010 Presidents’ Reception on Friday, June 25, from 5:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Coach Insignia, located at 200 Renaissance Center. This year’s reception will honor Michelle A. Carter for her service as president of the Wolverine Bar Association and the Wolverine Bar Foundation. It will also recognize Wayne Third Judicial Circuit Judge Judy A. Hartsfield, Family Division, for her work as president of the Association of Black Judges of Michigan. Tickets are $35 per person or $325 for groups of 10. Reservations are requested on or before Friday, June 18.
