Free Legal Information Help Desk time moves to Thursdays at noon
The Free Legal Information Help Desk is now providing legal information and referrals to pro se litigants on Thursdays from noon to 2 p.m. in the lobby of the north entrance to the Oakland County Courthouse, 1200 N. Telegraph Road.

The help desk had been open on Wednesdays from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

The help desk is sponsored by the Oakland County Bar Association and Legal Aid and Defender Association, Inc. (LAD). It is staffed by LAD attorneys and pro bono attorneys from corporate and private practice.

“The Free Legal Information Help Desk provides timely information and referrals to pro se litigants — litigants acting as their own attorneys — and legal advice to those who qualify for our services,” said Kelly L. Bidelman, managing attorney of LAD’s offices in Macomb and Oakland counties.

Wayne Region of WLAM holds annual wine and garden party Sept. 8
The Wayne Region of Women Lawyers of Michigan (WLAM) will host its Third Annual End of Summer Wine & Garden Party on Thursday, Sept. 8, from 5:30 to 8 p.m. at the home of Wayne County Circuit Court Judge Patricia Fresard in Grosse Pointe Woods (address will be provided upon reservation).

The cost to attend is $10 for students, $15 for WLAM members, and $20 for non-WLAM members.

There is an additional charge for those registering at the door.

Annual Race Judicata scheduled for Sept. 25
The Oakland County Bar Association will present its 32nd annual Race Judicata on Sunday, Sept. 25 beginning at 9:30 a.m. at Andover High School, Long Lake and Telegraph Road, in Bloomfield Hills.

The event will feature 5-kilometer and 10-km runs, as well as a 5-km walk. Team competition will be offered in both races with the top three finishing times tabulated for each squad, which are limited to five members.

The entry fee is $15 if registered by September 21. Race day registration costs $20. The cost for walkers is $10 in advance and $15 on September 25. Long sleeve T-shirts will be distributed to each entrant.

Holiday Hours
Please be advised that the Wayne County Probate Court will be closed in observance of Labor Day on Monday, Sept. 5 and will reopen on Tuesday, Sept. 6 at 8 a.m.

The Third Judicial Circuit Court of Michigan will be closed Monday, Sept. 5 in observance of Labor Day.
