East Lansing
2 men charged in alcohol-poisoning death at MSU

EAST LANSING, Mich. (AP) — A judge in East Lansing has ordered two young men tried in the alcohol poisoning death of a freshman in her Michigan State University dorm room.

A roommate found 18-year-old Olivia N. Pryor dead March 19.

On Tuesday, District Judge David Jordon ruled there’s enough evidence to try 19-year-old Dishon Ambrose of Detroit and 18-year-old Marquez Cannon of Eastpointe.
Ambrose is charged with furnishing alcohol to a minor causing death and being an accessory after the fact to first-degree criminal sexual conduct involving Pryor.

Cannon is charged with first-degree criminal sexual conduct involving Pryor, third-degree criminal sexual conduct involving Pryor’s roommate, and supplying alcohol to a minor.
The roommate says the students and their male visitors were engaged in a shot-drinking competition.

Fowlerville
School records show candidate was reprimanded

FOWLERVILLE, Mich. (AP) — School records show Michigan congressional candidate Kerry Bentivolio was reprimanded earlier this year for intimidating and threatening students at the high school where he taught.

According to records obtained by the Detroit Free Press under the Freedom of Information Act, the 11th District Republican nominee was issued a written reprimand dated June 7 and signed by Fowlerville High School’s assistant principal.

Myriah Lillie wrote: “Most students reported that they felt threatened and unsure of what you would do.”

The Free Press reports Wednesday Bentivolio soon after reached a settlement with the district and resigned.

The Associated Press left a message seeking comment from Bentivolio on Wednesday.
