Dynkowski will moderate panel on landmark case at American Bar Association annual meeting
Darius Dynkowski, a partner with Bloomfield Hills-based law firm Ackerman Ackerman & Dynkowski, will moderate a Presidential Showcase Program panel at the 2013 American Bar Association (ABA) Annual Meeting.
The discussion, titled “Planning and Takings in the Aftermath of Koontz,” will be one of nine elite Presidential Showcase Programs at the annual event, which takes place August 8-13 in San Francisco and will feature more than 1,500 total presentations. Dynkowski, the Chair of the ABA Land Use and Environmental Group, will lead the panel of four speakers who will discuss the Supreme Court’s decision in the Koontz v. St. Johns River Waste Management District case. The ruling, which was rendered on June 25, provided a landmark regulatory takings decision for eminent domain law. The panelists will analyze the Court’s decision and provide insight into the advocates’ strategies.
“With a case of this magnitude, it’s important to understand the issues at stake, how it will be argued and how the eventual outcome will impact eminent domain law,” said Dynkowski. “I’m excited to have the opportunity to moderate the panel as one of the Presidential Showcase Programs and look forward to a lively discussion about the future impact of this decision.”
Dynkowski earned his bachelor’s degree from Wayne State University in 1993 and his Juris Doctorate from the Detroit College of Law in 1996. He serves as the representative for the Owners’ Counsel of America and is an adjunct professor at the Michigan State University College of Law. The panel discussion will take place Thursday, August 8 from 5:30 to 7 p.m.
6th annual Pryder Cup to be held August 9 at Scalawags Golf Club
The Wayne County Probate Bar Association and the Macomb County Probate Association will face off Aug. 9 in the 6th annual Pryder Cup at Scalawags Golf Club, located at 5210 Fairchild Road in Chesterfield. The Detroit Legal News is the sponsor for the event. The format is based on the Ryder Cup competition: two golfers from Wayne County will compete against two golfers from Macomb County based upon handicaps using a combination of best ball, scramble and every-other-shot format. Participants will be teamed the day of the outing.
Lunch is at 11:30 a.m. with tee time starting at 1 p.m. Cost is $100 per person and includes golf, cart, lunch and light dinner. The event is limited to the first 12 golfers. Contact Walter Sakowski at (734) 525-2677 for more information.
