 Legal Aid and Defender to conduct free clinic  in Detroit on Sept. 17

DETROIT — Legal Aid and Defender Association, Inc. (LAD) will conduct a free outreach clinic on civil legal services for income-eligible residents of Macomb, Oakland and Wayne counties, including the city of Detroit, on Wednesday, Sept. 17 from 1 to 4 p.m. at Mack Alive, Inc. Community Resource Center, 3746 Fischer St.

Attendees are asked to bring copies of their documents and register before 2 p.m., as a LAD attorney will assist only those persons who have done so by that time.
 
Founded in 1909, LAD is the oldest and largest provider of free civil legal services to low-income residents of Michigan. It serves metropolitan Detroit through its offices in Macomb, Oakland and Wayne counties. It also represents criminal defendants in Wayne County and the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Michigan.

Hispanic Bar Assoc. to hold Law Student Reception/Mixer

The Hispanic Bar Association of Michigan is hosting a Law Student Reception/Networking Mixer on Sunday, Sept. 14, from 3-5 p.m. at 26005 Berkley Avenue in Huntington Woods.  The free event offers law students an opportunity to meet professionals in the legal field and make connections. Wayne Law James K. Robinson Fund-raiser/ Scholarship Event

A fund-raising event is going to be held on Friday, Sept. 26, to help raise money for the endowed scholarship fund created by the late James K. Robinson, a former dean at WSU Law school and class of 1968 alumnus. The fund was created to help students at Wayne Law. The event is going to be held at the London Chop House. The offices of the Detroit Legal News will be closed Monday, Sept. 1, in observance of Labor Day.
This requires the following deadline for the submission of legal notices:
• Notices for publication on Sept. 1 and 2 must be received by 9:00 a.m. on Friday, Aug. 29.
 

Holiday Hours

The Third Circuit Court Civil, Criminal and Family Divisions will be closed on Monday, Sept. 1, in observance of Labor Day.
