Wayne County Prosecutor Kym Worthy recently announced three new appointments.
"I am pleased to announce the recent appointments of Jerome Crawford, Chief Assistant Prosecutor, Anthony Guerriero, Chief of Legislation Grants and Community Relations, and my former colleague on the Wayne County Circuit Court bench Isidore Torres, as the Director of the Wayne County Fraud and Corruption Investigation Unit. These men have the years of experience, high integrity and a long term commitment of serving the public. They will each be great additions to the Wayne County Prosecutor's Office and I am proud to have them on my staff," said Worthy.
Jerome E. Crawford - Chief Assistant to Prosecutor
Jerome E. Crawford is a life-long Detroit resident. Mr. Crawford received a Bachelor of Arts from Michigan State University in 1976 and received his Juris Doctorate Degree from Wayne State University Law School in 1979. He was in private practice for many years, representing plaintiffs and defendants in civil and criminal litigation in the State and Federal Courts. Crawford is admitted to practice in U. S. District Court, Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals and the United States Supreme Court. For the last 12 years, Mr. Crawford has served as the Chief of Legislation, Grants and Community Relations for the Wayne County Prosecuting Attorney's Office and will succeed Richard Hathaway as the Chief Assistant to Prosecutor Kym L. Worthy.
Anthony S. Guerriero - Chief of Legislation, Grants and Community Relations
Anthony S. Guerriero is a resident of Dearborn, who has maintained a strong commitment to the Dearborn community through civic commitments spanning many years. He received his Bachelor's Degree from the University of Michigan Dearborn School of Management in 1976, and his Juris Doctor Degree from Wayne State University in 1979. Guerriero began his legal career as a worker's compensation and personal injury lawyer. He later practiced municipal and labor law, representing the City of Westland, Plymouth Township, Melvindale, Hamtramck and Allen Park.
In 1993, he was appointed Magistrate for Dearborn's 19th District Court, where he served for ten years, until his appointment to the 24th District Court in Allen Park by the Governor in 2003.
In 2005, Guerriero returned to private practice as a senior trial attorney with the Allen Brothers Law Firm. He later re-established his own civil private practice in the downriver Wayne County community. In 2012, Worthy appointed Guerriero to be her representative on the Wayne County Board of Ethics, where he continues to serve. He has been appointed by Wayne County Prosecutor Kym Worthy to succeed Jerome Crawford as the Chief of Legislation, Grants and Community Relations.
Isidore B. Torres - Director, Wayne County Fraud and Corruption Investigation Unit
Isidore B. Torres was born in Bay City. He received a Bachelor of Arts Degree from Michigan State University and received his Juris Doctor Degree from Wayne State University. Before taking the bench, he co-founded the Torres and Horvath law firm. He later became a Senior Assistant Corporation Council for the City of Detroit where he was involved in major litigation of state and federal cases. Torres became a 36th District Court for the City of Detroit; in 1988, he was appointed to the Detroit Recorder's Court where he heard felony criminal trials until 1997 when the court merged and became the Wayne County Third Circuit Court, Criminal Division.
In 1997, Torres transferred to the Wayne County Third Circuit Court, Civil Division. During his tenure, he was the Presiding Judge, the chief settlement judge for the Wayne County Third Circuit Court, Civil Division and sat as a visiting judge for the Michigan Court of Appeals. He retired from the bench in 2010.
In 2010, Torres established the Law Offices of Isidore B. Torres. He has served as the General Counsel for the Michigan Hispanic Chamber of Commerce and the Chairperson of its Public Policy Committee and Governance Committee. He has received numerous awards and acknowledgments recognizing his contributions throughout his legal career.
Torres has been appointed by Worthy to serve as the Director of the Wayne County Fraud and Corruption Investigation Unit. He is responsible for the investigation of allegations of internal fraud and corruption in Wayne County. This is a part time position.
