SBM to host 8th annual Spring Pro Bono Workshop and Networking Meeting


“The Power of Pro Bono” workshop, sponsored by the State Bar of Michigan Pro Bono Initiative, will be held from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Tuesday, May 24 at State Bar of Michigan in Lansing. This training is offered free of charge and lunch will be provided. The primary focus will be to provide legal services providers with the tools they need to recruit pro bono attorneys and to successfully and efficiently manage their pro bono programs. Criminal Law Spring Conference to be held June 3 in Frankenmuth
 

The State Bar of Michigan Criminal Law Section’s 8th Spring Conference will be held on June 3-4 with conference sessions offered all day on Friday and a half day on Saturday. This biennial event will be held at the Bavarian Inn in Frankenmuth. The Bavarian Inn Lodge is offering special room rates for attendees under group code 1294WD. This year’s conference will address truth, deception, and credibility. Susan Constantine will present a day-long interactive workshop on “Evaluating Truthfulness” on Friday. On Saturday morning, Larry Dalman will explain cell phone and computer forensics, including accessing and recovering information from social media. Immediately thereafter, Detective Christopher Fitzpatrick will help us understand polygraph examinations. John Collins will discuss his new forensic workshops. Conference cost for Criminal Law Section members is $25; for all other registrants, $30. Registration deadline is May 27.
