On Dec. 9, WMU-Cooley Law School’s Black Law Student Association (BLSA) hosted an event to help West Michigan’s Kids’ Food Basket. Students, faculty, and staff designed lunch sacks to donate to the Food Basket’s Sack Suppers program.
Sack Suppers is a program that benefits children who are in need of a nutritional meal after school. WMU-Cooley Law School donated 120 decorated lunch sacks to area schools that pack well-balanced evening meals in for students to take home.
“We wanted to celebrate the holiday season by helping local children learn at their full potential and ensure they receive the right nutrition,” said Sorinna Griffin, BLSA vice president.
Kids’ Food Basket is a nonprofit organization attacking childhood hunger to help young people learn and live well. They began over a decade ago by serving 125 kids each school day through our Sack Supper program and now serve nearly 7,500 kids each weekday in West Michigan.
