The Wayne County Criminal Advocacy Program (CAP) presents “Sentencing Update” with acclaimed sentencing expert Anne Yantus on Friday Nov. 17 from 1:30–3:30 p.m. The session will be held live at the Coleman A. Young Municipal Center and will also be broadcast live via webinar courtesy of the Criminal Defense Resource Center of the State Appellate Defender Office.

The Journal of Law in Society Symposium on ‘Why Detroit Rebelled’
The Journal of Law in Society at Wayne State University Law School presents its 2017 symposium, “Why Detroit Rebelled: The Intersection of Racism and Social Control in the City.” The symposium, which is free and open to the public, is from 8:30 a.m.-5 p.m. Friday, Nov. 17 at Wayne State University Law School, Spencer M. Joint luncheon to be held November 14
The annual joint luncheon of the Eastern District of Michigan Chapter and the Historical Society of the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Michigan will be held from 11:30 a.m.-1 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 14 at the Historic Westin Book Cadillac Hotel, 1114 Washington Blvd. in Detroit. The program will feature a presentation of the Federal Bar Foundation’s annual Rakow Scholarship Awards to students from each of Michigan’s law schools. Register online at fbamich. org.
