Jessica Woll, managing partner of Woll & Woll, P.C., a Michigan-based divorce and family law firm specializing in child-centric divorce matters and complex family law issues, is pleased to announce that her Birmingham law office was one of the top three winners in the 2018 Detroit Home Design Awards. Woll & Woll was recognized in the category of commercial design – office.
Woll, a design enthusiast and noted art collector, was the primary interior designer of her firm’s office.
Brilliant natural lighting from unadorned floor-to-ceiling windows bathes the monochromatic design of the tranquil, yet fast-paced firm. Whites, grays and occasional pops of color (such as electric blue ultra-suede upholstery on swivel conference room chairs and bright and abundant fresh flowers displayed year-round throughout the office) meld to calm guests, while also appealing to their appreciation of a lovely aesthetic. Jane Hammond TV prints add a sense of whimsy to Woll’s office, along with the organic lines of the white Kartell chairs and the suspended orbs of the Bocci lighting. Meanwhile, butterflies and their promise of metamorphosis “flutter” along the walls of offices and open spaces.
Echoing the loft look of industrial design, exposed ceilings with aluminum pipes provide a pleasing contrast to an otherwise refined look. The chandelier above the conference room table surprises with its geometric structure. Crossing the modern design lines, barn-wood floors warm the space beyond the lobby and reflect a European sensibility — combining contemporary elements with a traditional, albeit unexpected, foundation.
The floating glass entrance to the office allows visitors to be welcomed into the lush vestibule, even before they step inside, under the soft glow of the Moooi chandelier, while allowing an expansive view from inside the office of the complementary lobby in the mid-century modern building. Guests are greeted by the custom-designed, architectural reception desk and ushered to an appealing array of seating among Aimee Began original art in this beautiful, peaceful space. In commenting on the office, Detroit Home design judge Jeremy Corkern commented, “I find the Woll & Woll office to be clean, elegant and simple. In addition, it’s fresh and straightforward.”
