• Oakland County Bar Association: Discover(y) Changes in Michigan’s Court Rules
September 5

The Oakland County Bar Association is hosting a seminar, “Discover(y) Changes in Michigan’s Court Rules,” from 8:30-10 a.m. Thursday, September 5 at Oakland County Bar Association, 1760 South Telegraph Rd., Suite 100, in Bloomfield Hills. The legal profession has been reticent to modify litigation processes, court rules and business practices in ways that may deliver more efficient and inexpensive solutions to legal problems. But in 2016, the State Bar of Michigan formed a subcommittee to take on the task of establishing new streamlined discovery rules. The Michigan Supreme Court adopted the rules earlier this year and they go into effect January 1, 2020. Subcommittee Chair and current OCBA President Daniel D. Quick joins Oakland County Chief Judge Shalina D. Kumar and Subcommittee member James M. Alexander for a deep-dive into the new rules and how they will affect the way you conduct litigation in Michigan. The cost to attend with pre-registration is $40 for OCBA members; $30 for OCBA?new lawyers, paralegals and students; and $50 for non-members. Register at https://www.ocba.org/.
