• Detroit Mercy Law: Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson at Social Justice Lecture Series

Join Detroit Mercy Law in welcoming Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson as part of Detroit Mercy Law’s Dewitt C. Holbrook Lecture on Social Justice series. The lecture will begin at 5 p.m. Monday, October 28 at University of Detroit Mercy School of Law, 651 East Jefferson Ave. in Detroit. The national discussion about voting rights will be front and center. Benson will deliver her lecture titled “Voting Rights at the Core of a Just Society.” She will discuss the connection between the right to vote and the struggle for social justice, particularly how efforts to win civil rights have been intertwined with access to the ballot throughout American history and how those themes continue to reverberate today. • Health Care Law Section: Health Law—Trends, Technology, Trajectory

It will be held from 5:30-7 p.m. Tuesday, October 29 at Honigman LLP, 660 Woodward Ave., #2290 in Detroit. Panelists will provide insights on the top trends and challenges in health law, discuss how technology is impacting both the delivery of health care and the practice of law, and provide insights on building a successful career as a health care attorney. • Michigan Lawyers’ Chapter of the Federalist Society Annual Dinner and Grano Award

The Michigan Lawyers’ Chapter of the Federalist Society are hosting its Annual Dinner and the presentation of its Grano Award. The event will  be held from 5:30-9 p.m. Wednesday, October 30 at The Inn at St. John’s, 44045 Five Mile Rd. in Plymouth. This year’s Grano Award recipient is former Michigan Supreme Court Justice Kurtis Wilder. Keynote speaker will be Hon. Jeffrey S. Sutton, U.S. Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals. • Oakland County Bar Association/Women’s Bar Association present Diversity, Equity, & Inclusion: In Action
October 31

The Oakland County Bar Association and Women’s Bar Association’s “Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion: In Action” will be held from 9 a.m.-1:30 p.m. Thursday, October 31 at Federal Reserve, 1600 E. Warren Ave. in Detroit. Participants will learn how to build the business case for DE&I, be an effective DE&I leader, and strategically create, improve, and implement DE&I initiatives. Facilitators for the event will be Darlene King, executive director of Michigan Diversity Council and Tedi R. Parsons, managing partner, 2B Inclusive LLC. Panelists include Zenell Brown, Greg Conyers, Jody Guastella Jones, Julie Fershtman, and Mindi Johnson. The cost to attend is $40 with pre-registration or $50 at the door.
