A course designed by two golf legends – Jack Nicklaus and Pete Dye – awaits participants in this year’s Oakland County Bar Association outing on Monday, July 26.

Wabeek Country Club in Bloomfield Hills will be the site of the OCBA’s annual golf outing, aptly titled the “Bar for the Course Golf Tournament.”

“It’s time to enjoy some fun in the sun and build camaraderie with fellow attorneys,” said Jennifer Roosenberg, executive director of the OCBA. “Grab your colleagues or treat your clients to a day on the greens at our first in-person event of 2021.”

The outing, which was cancelled last year due to the pandemic, will begin at noon with lunch, followed by a shotgun start at 1 p.m.  A dinner and awards ceremony will cap off the festivities following the 18-hole tournament.

According to the country club’s website, “Wabeek’s naturally beautiful surroundings reflect the intimate nature of this sanctuary, its atmosphere reminiscent of Northern Michigan.  You may see on the property wildlife such as, deer, fox, and white heron and much, much more.  This championship golf course presents challenges as uncompromising as they are daunting . . . The grandeur of this course will provide . . . a brilliant test of golf.”

Early bird registration is open through July 9, costing OCBA members $175 per person, while the fee for non-members is $185 per player. The cost for a foursome is $675 for OCBA members and $715 for non-members.

After July 9, the prices increase to $190 per OCBA player and $215 for non-members. The cost for a foursome is $725 for OCBA members and $825 for non-members.

“Registration fee includes golf, cart, beverages, lunch, dinner, and prizes,” Roosenberg indicated.

Dinner-only reservations cost $55 per person.

Relatedly, the annual Pryder Cup golf outing will take place this year on Wednesday, Aug. 18 at Gowanie Golf Club in Harrison Township.

The event, modeled after the U.S. and European matches of the Ryder Cup, will pit teams from the Wayne County Probate Bar Association and the Macomb County Probate Bar Association, which is serving as the host this year.
