Webinars designed for family division referees Jan. 26


The Michigan Judicial Institute (MJI) is pleased to offer two upcoming webinars specifically designed for family division referees. 

The “Family Division Referees Webinar: Juvenile Division” will take place Wednesday, January 26, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. via Zoom.

Presentations will include: Statutory, Court Rule, Caselaw/SCAO Update; Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder: What Jurists Need to Know; Updated Perspective on Youth Marijuana Use; Medication Assisted Treatment and Child Welfare;

The “Family Division Referees Webinar: Domestic Relations Division” will take place Thursday, January 27, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. via Zoom.

Presentations will include: Statutory, Court Rule, Caselaw Update; Crafting Orders in Domestic Violence Cases; Child Support Issues; Medication Assisted Treatment and Parenting Time

To register for either webinar, visit https://mjieducation.mi.gov and click on “events.” Once registration is approved by MJI, attendees will receive a confirmation e-mail from Zoom with a personal link to join the webinar.

 

SBM?Real Property Law Section to talk ‘Recent Legislation and Hot Topics’
 

The Real Property Law Section of the State Bar of Michigan will continue its Homeward Bound series with a webinar on “Recent Legislation and Hot Topics” on the Horizon” on Thursday, January 27, from 3 to 4:30 p.m.

RPLS Legislative Committee Chair Dawn Patterson, National Underwriting Counsel, will begin with a discussion of new legislation affecting real property that has been passed into law during the last year. Attendees will also hear from the section’s lobbyist, Tabitha Zimny, Karoub Associates, who will provide an update on bills that are currently pending in the state legislature.  Kevin Hirzel, Hirzel Law, is the program chair.

Literary Ladies Book Club meeting to be held Jan. 26
 

The Women Lawyers Association of Michigan will present its next Literary Ladies Book Club online Wednesday, January 26, from 6 to 7 p.m. via Zoom.

For the January meeting, the club will be discussing “The Radium Girls: The Dark Story of America's Shining Women” by Kate Moore.
