Circuit Court Judge Pole to address RBA April 25
The Rochester Bar Association will host its next meeting on Monday, April 25, from 11:45 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Rochester Mills Brewery, 400 Water St. in Rochester.
Oakland County Circuit Court Judge Yasmine Poles will be the guest speaker at the RBA lunch. Poles was appointed in 2020 by Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer to fill the vacancy created when Judge Hala Jarbou stepped down following her appointment to the U.S. District Court, Western District of Michigan. Prior to her appointment, Poles was general counsel for Success Mortgage Partners Inc. (2017-2020) and operated the Law Offices of Yasmine. Poles PLLC (2019-2020). She was also an assistant prosecuting attorney for Macomb County from 2005-2017. Poles earned her law degree from Wayne State University Law School and her BA in Psychology from the University of Michigan.
Lunch attendees will be choosing from a limited menu and should plan to be seated to order by noon, with the speaker starting shortly after introductions.

Cannabis Law Section to conduct ‘Spring Training’
The State Bar of Michigan’s Cannabis Law Section will conduct its “Spring Training” on Thursday, April 28, from 8 a.m. to 4:20 p.m. at the Kensington Hotel, 3500 S. State St. in Ann Arbor
The training’s schedule will include:
• 8 to 9 a.m. Coffee and registration
• 9 to 10 a.m. CRA Update from Director, Andrew Brisbo
• 10 to 10:15a.m. Break
• 10:15 to 11:45 Legislative Rules Committee Panel
• Lunch Break
• 1 to 2 p.m. MRA Enforcement inspections, Brian Hanna
• 2 to 2:15 p.m. Break
• 2:15 to 4:20 p.m. John Janiszewski and Kristina Araya
- Compliance conferences/negotiation.
- Contested case hearings and strategies in different types of MRA proceedings.
- Appellate review of administrative proceedings.
Cost to attend the “Spring Training” is $75 for section members, $99 for non-section member /public, and $50 for law students.
