Oakland County Bar Foundation?to host Signature Event

The Oakland County Bar Foundation (OCBF) will host its 2022 Signature Event Thursday, June 23, from 6:30 to 9 p.m. at Orchard Lake Country Club, 5000 West Shore Dr. in West Bloomfield.

The OCBF grants funds throughout the year to many worthy non-profit organizations in order to meet its mission of ensuring access to justice and an understanding of law in our community. This mission couldn't be fulfilled without this event and the sponsors who support the foundation.  

The OCBF Signature Event is the only fundraising event for the foundation. The excellent food, the beautiful lakeside location and the company of colleagues produce a wonderful networking event that, in return, benefits many worthy organizations.

‘Minority Corporate Counsel Forum’ to be held May 24

The D. Augustus Straker Bar Association will host “Minority Corporate Counsel Forum: Law and Technology” online Tuesday, May 24, beginning at 5 p.m. via Zoom.

The program will offer a discussion on intellectual property in corporations.  Speaking at the forum will be Keyuna R. Evans, Microsoft; Alex Simpson, Microsoft; Apollo Upshaw, Ford; and Jay Christian, Amazon.

The Corporate Counsel Forum is an annual program hosted by Straker Bar to provide an opportunity to engage in an interactive exchange on the issues that impact corporate counsel and the law firms who service them to promote the hiring, retention, and promotion of diverse attorneys in corporations and in private practice.

FBA to host Annual Dinner June 8

The Federal Bar Association, Eastern District of Michigan Chapter, will host its 41st Annual Dinner Wednesday, June 8, from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the Atheneum Hotel, 400 Monroe St. in Detroit.

The Annual Dinner will feature the presentation of the 13th Annual Julian Abele Cook Jr. - Bernard A. Friedman Civility Award, recognition and thank yous to the members of the federal bench, election of chapter officers, live music, and social time with friends and colleagues.

Cost for the Annual Dinner is $99 for FBA members, $80 for federal law clerks, $65 for law students, and $121 for all non-members.  To register, visit www.fbamich.org and click on “events.”
