Wayne State University Law School Distinguished Professor Robert A. Sedler has just published a new book titled Constitutional Law in the United States (Kluwer Law International, 2011).
“Derived from the renowned multivolume International Encyclopaedia of Laws, this very useful analysis of constitutional law in the United States provides essential information on the country’s sources of constitutional law, its form of government, and its administrative structure,” according to the publisher. “Lawyers who handle transnational matters will appreciate the clarifications of particular terminology and its application.”
“I would like to congratulate Professor Sedler on his accomplishment,” said Wayne Law Dean Robert M. Ackerman. “He is a well-known scholar on constitutional law and we are fortunate to have him as a member of our faculty.”
Sedler is a distinguished professor of law at Wayne Law, where he has been a member of the faculty since 1977. He teaches courses in constitutional law and conflict of laws, and has published extensively in both of these fields.
Prior to coming to Wayne Law, he was professor of law at the University of Kentucky. He has also held permanent or visiting appointments at Saint Louis University, the Addis Ababa University School of Law, the University of Iowa, Washington University in St. Louis and Cornell University. He is a member of Phi Beta Kappa and the Order of the Coif.
He has litigated a large number of civil rights and civil liberties cases, mostly as a volunteer for the American Civil Liberties Union of Michigan. He frequently speaks to community groups in Metro Detroit on constitutional and public policy issues.
Sedler is a member of the WSU Academy of Scholars, the highest academic honor that can be bestowed on a faculty member as it is voted on by university colleagues. He served as president of the academy during 2007-08. This marks his 50th year as a law professor.
