Mitchell IP expands attorney roles
Mitchell Intellectual Property Law, PLLC, is pleased to announce that Elliot J. Gruszka has passed the Michigan Bar Exam and has joined MIP Law as an associate. He was admitted to practice in the State of Michigan before Judge James Redford.
Mitchell was pleased to move his admission to practice in the United States District Court for the Western District of Michigan before Judge Janet T. Neff, for whom Gruszka clerked as a law student.
Gruszka holds a bachelor’s degree (Taylor University) and master’s degree (Ball State University) in physics. As an undergraduate, he co-designed and built a high-energy particle detector for a micro-satellite. In graduate school, he conducted experiments studying neutron emissions from medical linear accelerators.
As a result of his education and research, he is well-versed in a variety of topics related to mechanical, electrical, and materials engineering.
Gruszka graduated magna cum laude from Thomas M. Cooley Law School, ranked 7 in his class of 438. He served as an Associate Editor to the Thomas M. Cooley Law Review, ranked in the Top 10 in Cooley’s Intra-School Moot Court competition, and won numerous Book Awards, including Research & Writing and Advanced Writing.
Keeping with Mitchell IP Law tradition of community service, Gruszka serves as a deacon in his church, and as a member of the Board of Trustees of the Federal Court Historical Society.
Mitchell Intellectual Property Law is also pleased to announce that after a brief sabbatical, Kathleen “Katie” Ogilvy is back. She is an outstanding young attorney and a bundle of energy and enthusiasm.
Ogilvy earned her BSc in Botany from Michigan State University and her JD from the University of Detroit Mercy. She is admitted to practice before the State Courts of Michigan and the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Michigan.
Prior to joining Mitchell IP Law, Ogilvy worked at a small intellectual property firm in metro Detroit where she was involved in patent prosecution for numerous mechanical and chemical matters as well as patent and trademark litigation. She has also spent time as an associate attorney in Litigation at Dickinson Wright focusing on products liability.
Ogilvy draws from her years of experience as a bench scientist at organizations including the American Red Cross, Henry Ford Health System, and MYcroarry.
She is also involved in the Women’s Bar Association, the Michigan Intellectual Property Law Association, and the Michigan Counsel of Women in Technology.
