Vitale joins Kotz Sangster in Grand Rapids

Thomas J. Vitale, a Kotz Sangster Wysocki P.C. attorney from Detroit, has joined the firm’s office in Grand Rapids as Co-Group Leader. Vitale has extensive trial and appellate experience as a litigator in both state and federal courts. His commercial focus is primarily on construction, banking, manufacturing and real estate.

Richard A. Glaser, Managing Partner of the Grand Rapids office, views Vitale’s presence in Kotz Sangster’s West Michigan office as critical to the firm’s regional growth.  “Tom’s entrepreneurial attitude is an ideal fit for West Michigan business,” Glaser said.  “He understands the clients’ needs and responds with sound advice and winning strategies.  His diverse commercial skill set will also support our Southwest Michigan offices in Niles, Buchanan, St. Joseph and South Haven.”

Vitale received an undergraduate degree from the University of Michigan and a J.D. from Michigan State University College of Law, where he was Associate Editor for the Michigan State Law Review.  He represents banks and other financial service providers in banking litigation, as well as national and local construction companies, general contractors, subcontractors and suppliers in construction and real estate disputes. Vitale has handled claims in arbitration, mediation and civil litigation involving non-competition agreements, business tort claims, disputes under UCC, auto supply chain disputes, tooling disputes and commercial collections.

He is a graduate of the Detroit Regional Chamber’s Leadership Detroit Class and has participated in many other Detroit-area community initiatives. “I am looking forward to building Kotz Sangster’s practice here in Grand Rapids and engaging with community organizations to address local challenges,” Vitale said. “My wife, Carlie, and I are delighted to have the opportunity to be here in Grand Rapids.”

Sean P. McNally, a member of Kotz Sangster’s Board of Directors, anticipates that Vitale will have great synergy with the West Michigan market, noting,  “Being born and raised in Grand Rapids, I strongly believe Tom’s skill set and community commitment will help us in our continued success in West Michigan.  Tom is a proven problem solver who knows how to add value to entrepreneurial business by taking practical approaches to complex problems.”
