Free seminar to dispel Probate Court mysteries
On Friday, Nov. 4, at the Royal Oak Senior Center at 3500 Marias in Royal Oak, the Citizen's Alliance of the Oakland County Probate and Circuit Courts will conduct a free seminar for senior citizens and their families from 1 until 3:30 p.m. explaining the Probate Court's role in wills, estates, trusts, guardianships, and conservatorships.
Titled "Removing The Mysteries of Probate Court," the seminar will provide attendees with information on the advantages and disadvantages of "avoiding probate," when and how to use a will, trust and/or Power of Attorney, how to begin probate proceedings, and when to consider use of guardianships and conservatorships.
Panelists will include Probate Register Jill Koney Daly from the Oakland County Probate Court; Estate Settlement Officer Tamra Tobin Teno from Fifth Third Bank; and private practice attorney Paula Talarico from the law firm of Talarico & Associates PC.
Materials will be available on trusts, estates, and the legal rights of senior citizens. Adequate time will be available for questions.
To register, contact the Royal Oak Senior Center at 248-246-3900.
"Removing the Mysteries" has been offered by the Oakland County Probate Court for twenty years, with thousands of citizens participating. Plans are underway for the spring series. For information regarding upcoming "Removing the Mysteries of Probate Court" locations visit www.oakgov.com/probate under News & Events, or to request consideration as a site for this seminar, please contact Jill Daly at 248-858-0282.
