Trial Attorneys at the Nichols Law Firm take part training with "The Lawyer Whisperer"
East Lansing attorneys Mike Nichols, Wendy Schiller-Nichols and Karen Phillips of the Nichols Law Firm just completed an intensive, high-level course on trial skills in Red Rock Nevada on April 3-5. The course was directed by Joshua Karton of Northern California. Karton is a writer-actor, who educates lawyers and other professionals on persuasive communication. Karton is known as ''the lawyer-whisperer.''
DUI/DUID and forensic evidence litigator Mike Nichols said ''this is the 3rd time I worked with Josh and it is so important to understand that little things make a difference. You have some important information to give a jury - it is key that they hear it and consider it in a case. Josh Karton helps keep me focused on the little things in telling a story that allow me to communicate it differently. I am convinced that it makes the difference when you do the little things between a good case and a not guilty verdict.''
Nichols also spoke to the Colorado DUI Defense Bar on April 3rd on Gas Chromatography Mass Spectrometry. Nichols said "the Colorado legislature is considering a bill to create a presumptive per se impairment level of 5 ng/mL now that marijuana has been legalized there. Therefore, it is critical for lawyers in Colorado to understand fully the important scientific aspects of measuring compounds in human blood at such miniscule levels. It was great to see a packed house."
Nichols was invited to speak by fellow National College for DUI Defense (NCDD) attorney Jay Tiftickjian, who is a leader in DUI defense in Colorado. Nichols is the Michigan delegate to the NCDD, a founder of the Michigan Association of OWI Attorneys (MIAOWIA). He is a member of the American Chemical Society (ACS) and an Associate Member of the American Association of Forensic Sciences (AAFS).
