The Oakland County Bar Association’s People’s Law College was conducted on Thursday, March 27, at the Bloomfield Township Public Library. This free event is designed to help educate members of the community on different areas of the law and to assist attendees in finding answers to their legal questions with first-hand insight from Oakland County attorneys. Taking part in the March 27 session were (l-r) Ann Neilson of Common Ground Legal Aid Clinic, Amanda Page of Page Law PLLC, Rochester attorney Mona Jabr, and Paula Zimmer of Lakeshore Legal Aid. There were four seminar sessions on the topics of Landlord/Tenant Issues; Friend of the Court; Driver’s License Restoration and Expungements; and Juvenile Issues. A free Ask-a-Lawyer session was also held for the duration of the program. The Ask-a-Lawyer portion allows attendees to speak privately with a volunteer attorney about their personal questions and concerns. The attorneys are able to discuss topics including juvenile, family, bankruptcy, probate, criminal, general civil, and landlord/tenant matters.
