Schuette has $1.9M to Totten's $150,000

LANSING (AP) - Michigan's Republican attorney general has a huge fundraising advantage over his likely Democratic opponent in the November election. Bill Schuette's re-election campaign on Tuesday reported having $1.9 million in the bank. That's more than 12 times the $150,000 in cash on hand reported by Mark Totten, a Michigan State University associate law professor and former Justice Department lawyer. Both Schuette and Totten are expected to be formally nominated for the race at their parties' conventions this month. Schuette's largest donation this year was $60,000 from the Red and Blue political action committee. It was funded primarily by James Bardy, founder of Troy-based food service provider Continental Services. The first-term attorney general raised about $1 million this year, while Totten raised about $87,000. Totten loaned his campaign $63,000 last year. Published: Thu, Aug 14, 2014
