Michigan township officials gather for annual conference
GRAND RAPIDS (AP) - More than 1,100 elected and appointed township officials and staff are expected in Grand Rapids this week for the Michigan Townships Association Conference.
Events run Tuesday through Friday at the Amway Grand Plaza Hotel and DeVos Place convention center.
Officials are from across the state. Following the conference theme, "The Will to Lead," the gathering aims to inspire and re-energize Michigan's township leaders. There will be educational sessions, networking opportunities and displays from businesses.
Educational sessions offer information on statutory duties and core township services, as well as township trends and legislative updates. Course topics include creative community cooperation, emergency management, wireless technology and urban farming.
