Police memorial service set May 4

The Jackson Police Department, in conjunction with the Jackson County Sheriff's Department and the Michigan State Police, will hold its annual police memorial service at noon on Wednesday, May 4.

The service will be held at Bucky Harris Park at the corner of Michigan Avenue and Jackson Street in downtown Jackson. In the event of inclement weather, the service will be held at the Jackson Symphony Orchestra, 215 W. Michigan Ave.

The keynote speaker is Referee Allison L. Bates from the Jackson Court House. The community perspective speaker is Russell Davis, retired Athletic Director of Jackson Public Schools and the National Football League.

The general public is welcome to attend this special service, commemorating Jackson officers who gave their lives in the line of duty. They will be honored through song, bagpipes, a gun salute, roll call and words from guests.
