The Clark Lake Polar Plunge is set Jan. 28 at The Pointe Bar and Grill and Clark Lake, with registration at 8:30 a.m., a costume parade at 10 a.m. and the plunge at 10:15 a.m. Awards and After Splash Bash will begin following the last plunger.
Michigan will hold 25 Polar Plunges in 2017. These are a Law Enforcement Torch Run (LETR) event. One of the largest grassroots fundraisers for Special Olympics globally, LETR consists of officers from law enforcement and corrections who raise funds and create awareness for Special Olympics year round.
Participants help to raise funds for over 21,000 athletes who participate in Special Olympics Michigan, offering sports for those with intellectual disabilities. The ultimate goal is to help persons with intellectual disabilities participate and receive respect as members of their communities.
