Livingston County CSC plea leads to prison sentence

A Livingston County man charged with nearly two dozen criminal sexual conduct (CSC) crimes received his prison sentence, Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel announced Thursday.

In December, Francis Winegarden II, 43, of Brighton, pleaded guilty to the following:

• One count of first-degree CSC – relationship
• One count of fourth-degree CSC – incest.

On Thursday, Livingston County Circuit Court Judge Miriam A. Cavanaugh sentenced Winegarden to between 10 and 20 years in prison. As part of the plea agreement, he will also have lifetime electronic monitoring and must register as a sex offender.

“Securing this prison sentence is a testament to our team’s dedication to prioritizing survivors,” Nessel said. “We will continue to pursue justice for those who have long felt sailenced and provide the resources necessary to support survivors in the healing process.”
