As part of the state of Michigan’s refreshed websites, the Department of Attorney General has launched a new design that prioritizes ease of access for virtual visitors.
“We hope this new look and feel makes navigating my office’s website more efficient and accessible,” Nessel said.
Some changes on the new platform include:
• Freedom of Information Act, Open Meetings Act information and Attorney General Opinions pages are now part of the main navigation.
• filing a consumer complaint is now linked as part of the main navigation.
• The Department's social media handles are now visible on each page to streamline access to promotion of the office’s work.
Another important aspect to the launch is that the Michigan Human Trafficking Commission (MHTC) will now have its own stand-alone site: www.michigan.gov/mhtc.
"I'm excited to see the work of this important commission highlighted on its own site now available online,” MHTC Chair AAG Kelly Carter said. “This resource will provide updates on our efforts to combat human trafficking here in Michigan and showcase information like public awareness resources and training on human trafficking."
The new websites are the result of a multiyear statewide website content management replacement project to update and replace over 110 executive branch websites. The initial launch is just the beginning of efforts to continue streamlining content and making continuous improvements to the user experience.
Led by the Michigan Department of Technology, Management & Budget (DTMB) and supported by teams from across the state, the project was initiated in late 2017 after receiving funding approval from the Michigan Legislature. Replacing a 20-year-old platform, the project included the review and overhauling of more than 170,000 web pages and 133GB of digital assets.
Following recognition from the Center for Digital Government for being named the top U.S. government state for overall experience in 2021, the project reinforces Michigan's longstanding work of enhancing online government services and improving overall user experience for Michiganders.
