Nessel relaunches power outage feedback form

Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel is once again asking consumers to provide feedback to the Department of Attprney General after experiencing a power outage in order to help inform her continued advocacy before the Michigan Public Service Commission (MPSC).

The form, available on the Department of Attorney General website (www.michigan.gov/ag), allows consumers to submit information about the outage, its length of time and restoration experience. It will take less than five minutes to complete.

“Consumer feedback is invaluable as we continue to advocate for consumers before the Commission,” Nessel said. “Summertime in Michigan should not correlate with expected and prolonged outages. Residents deserve reliable service and speedy restoration when outages occur.”

Nessel first created the form last summer in order to better understand the impact extended outages have on consumers. The initial feedback gathered was used in comments filed before the MPSC in October.

Most recently, Nessel helped secure a 40% reduction in the amount of consumers energy’s gas rate increase, saving ratepayers more than $100 million.

In addition to providing feedback, the summertime presents the opportunity to review Nessel’s consumer alerts related to flooding and power loss, including researching contractors if home repairs are needed before paying for a project and alerting drivers of water-damaged vehicles being sold on the used car market.

Consumer complaints can be filed online at the Attorney General’s website, or anyone with questions may call 877-765-8388.
