Michigan Military & Veterans Gala to recognize service members and veterans

Michigan will conduct its Military & Veterans Gala on Saturday, November 5, from 6 to 10 p.m. at the Lansing Center, 333 E. Michigan Ave. in Lansing. The formal event is a celebration of Michigan’s National Guard members, our state’s veterans and advocates who support both groups.

In addition to music, dancing and food, the night will include the presentation of awards in nine categories including Veteran of the Year, Veteran-Friendly Volunteer of the Year, Veteran Service Provider of the Year, Community Outreach and Regional Engagement, MVAA & Trust Fund Exceptional Service, Michigan Army National Guard Recruiter of the Year, Michigan Air National Guard Recruiter of the Year, DMVA Employee of the Year and VA Employee of the Year.

“This will be an amazing evening dedicated to celebrating the accomplishments of our service members and veterans who stepped up from their communities to serve Michigan with honor and distinction,” said U.S. Army Maj. Gen. Paul D. Rogers, adjutant general and director of the Michigan Department of Military and Veterans Affairs. “The gala will also recognize the strong impact that our families have on the successes we are celebrating.”

Zaneta Adams, director of the Michigan Veterans Affairs Agency, said the gala presents a great opportunity to celebrate Michigan veterans leading up to Veterans Day on Nov. 11.

“The Military and Veterans Gala is a celebration of our state’s veterans, their accomplishments, and the proud history they helped build here in Michigan, domestically and overseas,” said Adams. “We
also get to recognize all of the volunteers, family members and providers who proudly advocate for our veterans after their service ends.”

Tickets are $60 and the event is open to the public. For additional information or to purchase tickets, visit www.ngam.org/2022-gala.
