'Non-Competes, and the Evolving Workplace' focus of MIPLA program January 24

The Michigan Intellectual Property Law Association (MIPLA) will host a virtual event on Tuesday, January 24, from 11:45 a.m. to 1:15 p.m. via Zoom. Speaker Maxwell Goss will discuss "Trade Secrets, Non-Competes, and the Evolving Workplace."

Remote work, greater employee mobility, and digitization are transforming the workplace and presenting new threats totrade secrets. This presentation discusses the promise and perils of non-compete agreements to combat trade secret misappropriation in the evolving workplace. Particular attention is given to the growing scrutiny and regulation of non-competes, including the Uniform Restrictive Employment Agreement Act, President Biden's executive order regarding non-competes, and the recent flurry of state-level non-compete legislation.

Guest speaker Goss, a partner at Fishman Stewart PLLC, is a litigation and trial lawyer representing clients in trade secret, trademark, copyright, and patent cases in Michigan and around the country. Goss also provides strategic advice on IP, technology, and business law.
