ABA Commission on Women in the Profession hosts webinar with top women bar leaders

Women are leading the majority of national bar associations across the United States this year, and in celebration of Women’s History Month the American Bar Association Commission on Women in the Profession will host a Zoom webinar about the advancement, challenges and power of women in bar leadership.

The “Celebrating Women’s Leadership” webinar, sponsored by the ABA Commission on Women in the Profession, will take place Friday, March 24, from 12:30 to 2 p.m. via Zoom.

Featuring comments from ABA President Deborah Enix-Ross, the discussion will be moderated by Judge Maureen Mulligan, chair of the ABA Commission on Women in the Profession, and will include panelists:

• Lonita Baker, president of the National Bar Association

• Judge Toni Clarke (ret.), president of the National Association of Women Judges

• Lousene Hoppe, president of the National LGBTQ+ Bar Association

• Sandra Leung, president of the National Asian Pacific American Bar Association

• Makalika Naholowa’a, president-elect of the National Native American Bar Association

• Tara Raghavan, president of the South Asian Bar Association

These bar leaders also will share lessons learned as they carved their paths to the top of the profession.

‘Tips and Tools for a Successful Practice’ seminar April 4

A solo practitioner or a new lawyer looking for practical information and ethical guidance to enhance the efficiency of a law practice can find help in an upcoming online program.

Hosted by the State Bar of Michigan, “Tips and Tools for a Successful Practice” is a virtual seminar offered Tuesday, April 4, from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Attendees will be able to gain insights from experienced colleagues who have successfully implemented law office management techniques and utilized economically priced technology to improve their law practices.

The cost of the seminar is $50 and is open to lawyers, other legal professionals, law students, and unlicensed graduates.  To register, visit www.michbar.org/tipstools. The registration deadline is 5 p.m. March 31, 2023. 

A “Tips and Tools for a Successful Practice” seminar also is planned for October 17.
