State Bar of Michigan announces 2023 award winners

The State Bar of Michigan is bestowing its highest honors on 10 individuals for their exceptional dedication to the legal profession and commitment to ensuring justice for all.

The Board of Commissioners issued the following awards, which will be presented during the Presidential Inauguration & Awards Luncheon at noon Thursday, September 21, at the Troy Marriott.

• Roberts P. Hudson Award: Nancy Diehl, Joseph Kimble, and John M. Sier.

• Frank J. Kelley Distinguished Public Service Award: Judge Timothy Kenny.

• Champion of Justice Award: Veronica Thronson.

• John W. Reed Michigan Lawyer Legacy Award: Vivak Sankaran.

• John W. Cummiskey Pro Bono Award: James R. Rinck.

• Liberty Bell Award: Amy Iseler.

The Representative Assembly will award the following honors during its meeting at the Troy Marriott following the Presidential Inauguration & Awards Luncheon:

• Michael Franck Award: Sheldon G. Larky.

• Unsung Hero Award: Judge Melissa L. Pope.

 

2023 Bar for the Course Golf Tournament planned for July 24

The Oakland County Bar Association will present the OCBA?2023 Bar for the Course Golf Tournament on Monday, July 24, at Tam-O-Shanter Country Club, 5051 Orchard Lake Road in West Bloomfield.

All are welcome to join friends, colleagues, and acquaintances for a fun day out on the beautiful course at Tam-O-Shanter. 

Participants can register as a solo, with a friend, or a full foursome to compete in the course challenges and tournament.  Registration fee includes golf fees, carts, beverages, lunch, dinner, and raffle prizes.  Dinner-only reservations are available which include dinner and prizes. 

The cost per player is $280 for OCBA members and $300 for non-members; a twosome is is $550 for OCBA members and $590 for non-members; and a foursome is $1,095 for OCBA members and $1,175 for non-members.  The early-bird registration runs through July 9.  After July 9, the per player cost increases to $295 for members and $315 for non-members; a twosome is is $530 for OCBA members and $620 for non-members; and a foursome is $1,155 for members and $1,235 for non-members.  Cost for dinner only is $65.
