'Panel Discussion and Citizen Dialogue' hosted at OCBA

The Patriot Week Foundation and Oakland University Center for Civic Engagement will kick off a weeklong series at various locations throughout the state each discussing one of seven principles. The first event will be hosted at the Oakland County Bar Association offices on Monday, September 11, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. "The First Principle of Revolution: A Panel Discussion and Citizen Dialogue" focuses on revolution - the right to abolish or reform an oppressive government.

Panelists will include retired Michigan Supreme Court Justice Stephen Markman, retired Macomb County Probate Court Judge/Macomb Prosecutor Carl Marlinga, Wayne State University Professor Marc Kruman, with special guest State Bar of Michigan President Elect Daniel Quick, and introductory comments by Oakland County Circuit Court Judge Michael Warren.

Attendees will be encouraged to share their thoughts in a structured citizen dialogue moderated by Oakland University Professor David Dulio. Reports from this and other panel discussions and citizen dialogues will be used by high school and college students to develop policy proposals at an education summit in May 2024.

The OCBA offices are located at 1760 S. Telegraph Road, Suite 100, in Bloomfield Hills. To register for the free event open to the general public, visit www.ocba.org and click on "events."
