Oakland County clerk briefs commissioners, public on early voting preparations

Oakland County voters will be making history this month with early voting being piloted for the November 7 election. Early voting will begin Saturday, October 28, in many Oakland County communities for nine days for the first time ever in Michigan history. Oakland County Clerk/ Register of Deeds Lisa Brown presented twice this week on early voting and what that looks like for Oakland County.

“The constitutional amendment adopted by the passage of Proposal 2022-2 provides for a minimum of nine days of early voting in federal and state elections going forward,” said Brown. “I strive to make my office a model for others. In that spirit we have stepped up to pilot this effort in partnership with a majority of our communities for next month’s election. We’re blazing new trails to make voting more accessible and convenient for all.”

Brown presented to the Oakland County Board of Commissioners at the Board’s Tuesday, October 17, meeting.  She detailed not only what preparations are being made but also how these changes will impact voters.

Additionally, Brown presented at the “Election Process Community Conversation,” a town hall meeting hosted by County Commissioner Ajay Raman on Wednesday October 18, at the Novi Civic Center Council Chambers. Several municipal clerks from communities within the commissioner’s district were also be on hand.
