Loy Norrix snaps C-S’ 3-game winning streak

After totaling eight runs in an 8-1 win over Colon April 18, the Climax-Scotts varsity baseball team managed to push just one run across in a 9-1 non-conference setback to Kalamazoo Loy Norrix April 19, snapping C-S’ three-game winning streak.

The Panthers, 5-3 entering play April 23, managed just three hits against the Knights, two by Gavin Eyre and one by Ben Crocker.

All nine Loy Norrix runs were unearned after C-S committed five errors.

Gavin Eyre suffered the loss, allowing four hits and four walks with two strikeouts across three innings.

Lincoln Dzwik had a solid outing in relief, allowing three hits, no earned runs and two walks to go with six strikeouts.

Strong pitching lifts Panthers over Colon


Carter Dzwik pitched four strong innings and Logan Gilbert followed with three masterful innings in relief to help the Panthers to a 8-1 win over Colon April 18 at Colon High School.

Dzwik, playing with C-S through a co-op arrangement with Battle Creek St. Philip, scattered three hits and gave up one earned run and two walks in four innings worked. The Tiger pitcher struck out nine Magi.

Gilbert was just as impressive, allowing just two hits and no earned runs and no walks in three innings. He struck out six.

Gavin Eyre, who had a double and two RBI, collected two hits for C-S.

3 pitchers team up for 1-hitter in C-S’ win over Athens


Three Panthers combined for a one-hitter in the Climax-Scotts varsity baseball teams’ 11-0, five-inning win over Athens April 16 at C-S Jr./Sr. High School.

Starting and winning pitcher Lincoln Dzwik pitched the first three innings and did not allow a hit. The righthander threw 21 strikes in his 32-pitch outing, striking out five and walking one.

Gavin Eyre followed with a hitless fourth inning, recording three strikeouts and Logan Gilbert allowed one hit over one inning with two strikeouts.

Eyre had a double and triple and knocked in three runs and Carter Dzwik had two hits and two RBI for the Panthers.
