Thirty new members were welcomed into the fold at the Annual Fellows Reception for the Oakland County Bar Foundation on January 27.
The event took place at the Iroquois Club in Bloomfield Hills and served as the mid-winter gathering of those who support the charitable mission of the OCBF.
Fellows each pledge $1,000 to support the OCBF, funds that will be used for legal aid and legal education programs in the community, according to Jeff Raphelson, president of the Foundation and an attorney with Bodman.
The new Fellows for 2025: Brandon Barlog, Zenell Brown, Gabriella D’Agostini, Oakland County Circuit Judge Tricia Dare, Brandon Debus, George Donnini, Jonathan Frank, 45th District Court Judge Michelle Friedman Appel, Nicole Gettler, Justin Gonzales, Sean Head, Vassal Johnson II, Yasmeen Kaddouh, Rebecca Klein, and Tyler Knurek.
Also among the new Fellows: Margaret Lindauer, Logan Mackensen, Melissa Moore, Michigan Court of Appeals Judge Sima Patel, David Porter, Austin Probst, Brian Schwartz, Laura Selzer, Darnell Smith, Allison Tuohy Dolson, Gage Wakula, 50th District Court Judge Cynthia Walker, Latoya Willis, Michael Woods, and Matthew Zalewski.
The Foundation’s annual Signature Event is scheduled for Wednesday, May 7, at Orchard Lake Country Club. Last year, the event raised more than $193,000 to fund various charitable causes in the area.
“This is the Oakland County Bar Foundation’s primary fund-raising event,” said Patrick McCarthy and David Plunkett, the co-chairs of the May 7 gala. “With the support of our sponsors, the OCBF has funded over $3.3 million in grants within the last 20 years. Our organization remains a necessary component to ensuring that legal aid and education programs are properly funded throughout Oakland County and the surrounding areas.”
Proceeds allow the Foundation to fund programs of many worthy organizations such as Lakeshore Legal Aid, CARE House of Oakland County, The Joseph Project, and the OCBA’s Youth Law Conference and Senior Law Days to name a few.
